Evaluation
After completing the application, you will be contacted to schedule an evaluation. The evaluation may be completed in person or Via Zoom.
Treatment Plan Meeting
A treatment Plan will be created and presented to the family. We will define the learning gaps and discuss what will be required to close these gaps to proficiency.
Placement & Progress
Manage Mindsets is a prescriptive data-driven process and not a program. Growth is assessed weekly, and we are responsive to their progress.
Non-Readers - Often Biological Root Cause
Reading is focused on accuracy and then followed by speed. When 4th - 8th-grade students who struggle to read at the PK and Kindergarten levels arrive, we begin with Phonological Awareness and develop strategies from day one for reading success. Students leave with resources for at-home practice and read their first book on day 1 of class.
False Start - Root cause may be Environmental or Biological
Students in 4th -8th grade reading at the 1st -3rd-grade level has experienced what we call a false start. This group begins with phonological awareness but moves through it quickly and will focus on stimulating the areas of the brain that aid in automaticity to increase speed while attending to any weakness in phonics knowledge.
Environmental Root Cause
When oral language foundations at home are not the same as the text language used in the classroom, bilingual and bidialectal students struggle in an educational environment. They are carrying a considerable cognitive load to manage two languages and find flexibility in transitioning between their narrative and academic voices. We honor using narrative and academic voices in a learning environment reflective of cultural inclusion.
Math Program
Speak the Language of Math
Through an introduction to algebraic awareness, students develop an academic vocabulary in mathematics and can self-advocate in the classroom. Students learn to ask specific questions and build confidence in discussing math with others.
Writing and solving equations
Once a foundation for communication is developed, we move from simply solving equations to writing equations for real-world situations. With application and practice, we demystify algebra and reveal its usefulness.
Advanced Equations
The final algebra level includes working with fractions in equations and solving advanced equations. Students completing this level are confident and prepared for High School Algebra courses. Students who have been unsuccessful in High School Math courses also benefit from this program as remediation.
